I used the 1945A pattern converting the fronts by splitting it apart at the long dart. This new seam then allows for an onseam pocket below waist level that doesn’t add bulk at hip level. The complete instructions for the jacket pattern conversion is on page 120 of the Jackets Workbook while instructions for the trim are on pages 18 & 19 of this issue of the newsletter.

You can enjoy experimenting with a variety of yarns to come up with just the right combination. The two on the fabric were the most promising, but for a more refined and flat trim, less bulky rayon yarns can be used in the same knit stitch to produce something quite different as shown below.

A pair of cardigan sweaters can initiate a variety of looks. The scarf from the teal boucle sweater jacket can work on the solid green teal cardigan. The boucle cardigan could be layered over the solid, or a top from the green teal rib knit could be worn under both cardigan jackets.

Both were made quickly and easily, look great belted and will work right into the holidays and on into spring with these clear colors. The Boucle includes a bit of camel to pair with a camel coat or coordinates too.

The sweater jackets were created from the 1960 Knit Twinset pattern with the fronts cut with the front tissue of the 1945C pattern so these have nice sharp edges by using a knit interfacing on the facings. This helps with making the buttonholes and also makes them hang neatly on the figure. Directions for this new conversion are on pages 7 & 8 of this issue.

There’s wonderful gratification in making something you love to wear that’s been inspired by a designer you admire. This knockoff of a Celine style by Phoebe Philo was easy to sew. The only tricky part was adding the leather pockets. Pages 16 & 17 in this month’s newsletter.

Here you can more clearly see the Herringbone Stripe fabric, swatch 90908. I think it could be interesting to pleat the 2” wide even stripe so that a skirt would appear to be more grey and have the camel herringbone show within the pleats. There is a suggestion or two on how to do this in the Skirts Booklet.
