These
images are for the May/June 2008 newsletter which mailed on May 2. You'll
find more detailed text in that issue. Don't forget that May/June is one
of the shortest issues of the year so that I can bring you larger issues
for the major fashion seasons. |

This is the 1945 jacket converted into a shirt/blouse with the Plaid Pleats fabric from the July 2007 newsletter. Though it is still available since it sold so well, this month's issue features Summer Breeze which is a similar fabric. To finish this easily, the sleeve and bottom edges were roll hem serged eliminating bulk and the time of hand hemming. A great fabric for shorts is the Cotton Stretch Poplin that I stock in black, navy, beige and a bright kiwi green. You can find it here on the site in the fabric section. |

At the right, I've paired the same shorts, commonly described this spring as "city shorts" when they are paired with a jacket. Worn with a flat shoe, you'll enjoy these just as much as your capri pants. In this issue you'll find directions for converting your favorite pants pattern into shorts. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I just wanted to remind you about making a sleeveless top when you don't feel as though your arms look good enough to expose them....just add a little cardigan, that doesn't even have to be longer than the top. In this case the cardigan and pants match which would be most appropriate. If you're interested, I still have a little of this Anna Sui licensed rose print fabric in the red and ivory and the black and ivory. |

Starting at the top you'll find Roman Holiday and then two additional colorways of the Confetti Print. The middle fabric is the gray/black version, while the bottom print is the pink/coral combination. The newsletter swatch is the cobalt. |

If you haven't made yourself a floral print garment yet for this summer, Midnight Garden is a graphic floral that will be easy to accessorize. You could make the quick blouse (March 2006 newsletter) or for another quick addition to your summer wardrobe, make a pencil skirt and then look at the variety of colors you can choose for your top. When a fashion trend comes along that you want to incorporate, don't spend a lot of time sewing it or investing in it. Make it quick for the season, and then move on to a more lasting project. |
