These images are for the July - August 2012 newsletter.

We've just gone through a terrible, record breaking heat wave but all signs otherwise let us know that staying indoors can be very productive come fall when we've some wonderful new pieces to add to our wardrobe. It just gets your day off to a great start knowing you have something new to wear or something to expand the pieces you have already to make them look fresh again. Just as nice as a frigid, snow day, these dog days of summer make nestling into a sewing room a perfect indoor activity.

And for those of you that carefully read the newsletter, the answer for the page 6 question is: Maybe I would wear "high heels with tapered pants"...but probably with a tunic or long top......

July - August 2012

I'm going to try to get the pants for this done in the next week or so--matching patterned or textured pants and jacket create the new suit--no longer called a pantsuit, it's just a suit and with a shorter pant length and longer jacket, it is the new "cool girl" silhouette for 2012.

For a more casually, polished look, a ready-to-wear t-shirt is trimmed with the matching suit fabric and some buttons to fake a placket.
Directions for this neckline treatment for a ready-to-wear t-shirt are in the July 2012 newsletter issue, page 13.

This little group of transitional fabrics can be sewn in very casual styles....think t-shirt shapes, slim pants, and easy cardigans. All of this issue's fabrics are meant to be sewn as pieces to mix with what you already have and can use to extend their possibilities starting now and moving into fall when daytime temperatures can sometimes still read late summer.

The navy coordinates have several button selections if you're interested. On the navy raincoat fabric are some unusual closures that you may prefer over a button. There are some good navy buttons shown on the website in the ingredients file too.
