These images are for the July/August 2010 newsletter.

Here'e the 1945 jacket with one sleeve tucked inside and the other full length. I can't decide if I want to shorten the sleeves, so for now, I have the option. It's based on my 2006 Chanel jacket shown in the January 2010 newsletter and it's at the bottom of that subscriber page too.

July/August 2010

This is the Chanel wool jersey biker jacket. All of the details are described in this issue on pages 8-10.

I used the 1945 pattern and redesigned the fronts a bit to make a similar style without all of the details. Fast to sew in a doubleknit, this "jacket" wears like a cardigan sweater. I made my 1945 just a little longer for fall.

Here are the best zippers I've found for the Biker Style jacket--they're available in black and navy, silver/aluminium teeth or antique brass.

Long zips in 22-26" lengths and the shorter zips for the pockets are 7" lengths.
Priced $2.50-6.50.

The cable knit sews easily and beautifully in the 1960 FSG cardigan pattern. It's perfect for summer's cool evenings and will last you through fall and winter too.

Here's the black Cable Knit with the Black Floral Rayon and the navy Cable Knit with the Stretch Denim Pinstripe. All washable fabrics and good at least 3 seasons of the year.

Here's the red group from this month's fabrics. You can see the scale of the print on the mannequin. The painterly print seems appears more abstract than realistic, and mostly shows red and dark olive black.
