These images are for the January 2008 newsletter which mails on January 4. You'll find more detailed text in that issue. It may take awhile for your computer to load these large images, but I wanted you to see as much detail as possible. I was invited to a
very special presentation at the Chicago Chanel Boutique in mid November.
The exhibit called "Secrets of the Chanel Jacket" was presented
at only two boutiques in the U.S. and Chicago was fortunate to be one
with the other previous installation in Dallas. It was a wonderful exhibit
and better than many of the museum exhibits I've seen since this one focused
completely on the jacket. |

(L-R) A Chanel from 1918 in the much documented belted safari style in wool jersey; Next a suit from the sixties and finally, a cardigan from the Fall 2007 collection.
This story board shows the three main styles from Chanel: the classic cardigan, the blazer and the spencer style. In the 1945 Fashion Sewing Group pattern collection, the blazer cut in the center top is very much like the 1945 basic pattern with the cardigan and spencer similar to the 1945C and other conversions in the Jackets Workbook.
The
photo below shows another storyboard with the details of the jacket. Notice
the upper left hand with its "Soft Tailoring" description. |

A few of the January fabrics are shown here to represent the full piece. Below find a colored picture of the buttons offered and a picture of the sweater project. |
