Can you make too many of a single pattern?

Here are 8 versions of the 1960 cardigan, some mixed with woven or with the lapels of the 1945 pattern, some with two pockets and others with four. Some cardigans have matching scarves to vary the necklines and some are without the self-fabric cuff. Seven of these have been made since December, while I've at least as many from before then. It's such a classic and flattering shape with the slightly defined waist cut into the silhouette and the band cut on the straight so you cut that from a woven fabric or without difficulty in a pattern or stripe. Sometimes described as a Boyfriend Cardigan, this is a similar style, but without the oversized shaping. This one will flatter everybody, particularly if you do the quick lining treatment for the back so that it will hang well and can be worn over any garment without clinging to your figure.

April - June 2012

The color of the season whether you call it coral or Pantone's Tangerine Tango. This was done with four pockets and is worn over the easy new pattern conversion of the 1960 top--converted from a knit to a woven.

This is my "muslin" of the 1960 top conversion done in a twenty year old silk georgette. If you have these tropical or bold prints in your stash, don't miss this opportunity to get them sewn and worn right now before the trend passes you by for another couple of decades.

This is the Tropical Garden print that I incorporated into the 1960 cardigan pattern. It was so easy to give myself a bit of the trend. It's a one yard wonder--that's all it will take. It will also make a darling sundress, and some of you could even give pants a try. Summer is an opportunity to do a little more experimentation with patterns and color--you'll enjoy working on this cotton faille print. It would have wonderful body for a full-skirted summer dress.
