These images are for the April - June 2011 newsletter.

It's the 1945/1961 pantsuit in the Blue Moon silk. Open up the jacket to the Romantic Garden organza top and then think of the possibilities mixing up all of these pieces. The Romantic Garden organza sewed up easily in a little loose tank--the colors would work with nearly every fabric in this issue's collection. Pair the Emerald Night silk with these as well--color mixing was paramount in the designers' collections this spring.

April - June 2011

This silk jacket was made about 15 or so years ago...it's longer length and classic shape are still good and mixing strong colors together it a theme this season. It had a large black and gold button on it, so I was probably knocking off something from Escada or Versace. It has a matching skirt that I've since outgrown though since it's long I could probably take off the waistband and move the hip up a bit. Shoes are three year old Pradas with green trim...lucky me. I'm going to wear these pants ankle length.

Another way they're styling a bright pantsuit on the runway is to belt it with a colorful belt. This red and blue raffia works like it was made for it.

This is the simply draped rectangles for another style of a fake-a-blouse. Worn under the 1960 cardigan no one would know....

With the 24" square of the Romantic Garden organza, two triangles make this fake-a-blouse wrap style.

Here's my favorite silk jacquard scarf just wrapped and tucked under the Green Gardens easy to sew jacket from the 1960 knit pattern. Though the jacket is a woven silk, the Knits Booklet shows how to construct that easy shape with the front bands in a woven. Green Gardens is in the May sale to subscribers only.

Here are three good button choices for the silk suitings--the chain buttons are also available in antique silver. They are described on page 12 in the newsletter and also shown on the button page in the "ingredients" file.

With the sky silk tweeds, embroidered and plain, I have two good knit choices for them. A good blue cotton knit shown upper left and a rayon knit shown to the right in rayon. If you want to add them to your outfit--make something really casual with a boatneck t-shirt or the top and cardigan from pattern 1960 for example worn with the plain sky silk in pants could be elegantly casual. Pair the pants with a jacket or top in the embroidered, and you'd have a dressier outfit perfect for a spring ladies lunch or dinner out. A skirt then in either plain or embroidered with the embroidered top could make this a cocktail dress look as well or perfect for a summer wedding or graduation.

If you'd like to do a little color blocking with knits, these four rayon doubleknits would do the trick from upper left, coral, lime (you have a swatch for this one), purple and clear blue at the bottom.
